About The Project
About Plan Monrovia
Plan Monrovia is a strategic planning process that engages and solicits community feedback to build a roadmap for Monrovia for the next five years. It is about understanding and voicing the highest priorities for the community and developing City services that meet those needs. Through this process, we are asking for all Monrovians to get involved. Plan Monrovia… Does your mind start to think of big, great, new ideas? Ours does! But we have to keep in mind with this process: we do not start with a blank slate. There are already projects and obligations and ongoing must-have services that cannot stop. This planning is not just about more- it’s about working together to prioritize what we are doing and what we could be doing. Like most cities in California, our resources are more limited now, which means we may not be able to provide all of the services we used to or perhaps not in the exact same way. The purpose of this process is to engage you in discussion about how you believe our City resources should be allocated to the community as the Council goes to approve the Final Strategic Plan. Our Current Condition:
With 47 positions cut and $2 million fewer dollars, the City can no longer be all things to all people. We have to pick and choose -- what are the most important things for the City to focus on achieving, and what can the community achieve on its own? We would like you to give some thought to: What are the most important things for the City to focus on over the next five years? We have developed this website for you to share ideas and discuss the answers to this very question. Local government is far and away the most responsive level of government, and in this way, you can be sure that everything you submit here, every idea that is voiced, will be read by our City Council. |
