I see more and more of these every year. Chain link fences and cheap wrought iron fences are a definitive sign of a low-end neighborhood. They look trashy and really take away from the charm of the city. This is an easy building law to enforce and will help beautify our city. Monrovia has some amazing architecture with our craftsman and victorian houses, the charm of these areas is destroyed with a rusty fence or plain gray masonry fence columns. I ask anyone that reads this idea to drive through two different Monrovia neighborhoods, one where owners don't install these fences and one where owners do, and compare the charm and beauty of the street. This is a beautiful city and we should have higher standards for the curb appeal of our homes.
