Most street lights in Monrovia are High Pressure Sodium type lamps. If these lamps were converted to LED type lamps, the City would realize huge energy savings and a relatively short payback period for the cost of the upgrade. The light output would be the same and in fact the night color spectrum would improve. Also, traffic signal lights should be converted to LED. There may be State and Federal energy grants available for this work. Everybody wins with this idea!
